Telephone Sales Representative

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Primary responsibility is to sell, educate and develop strong relationships with local businesses through outbound calls.  Representative will work with inactive, accounts, new business, appropriate categories of business, and existing lower revenue accounts.  The sales representative will use the telephone as the primary means of communicating with potential or current advertisers to sell and educate clients on the entire suite of advertising products offered by the Tampa Bay Times and Tampabay.com.  The sales representative will work to develop sales via targeted campaigns or specific areas of business or for seasonal products and special sections.  Strong cold calling and customer service skills are the key components for success in this position.   
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  
Outbound sales calls (cold calls) to prospective or current advertisers offering a variety of audience based solutions which will  result in additional ad volume and revenue within our suite of products
Consistently meets or exceeds all goals set for specific time frames and planned Advertising campaigns. 
Develops and utilizes quarterly sales plans for a purposeful, organized approach to work. Asks questions to build rapport, quickly assess prospect needs and potential objections then presents recommendations to meet the needs identified, overcomes objections and closes the sale.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of the competition within the market through self-education
via research of competitive products and sales techniques.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRE
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills - this includes clear diction and the ability to coach and instruct clients in the opportunities available for their advertising needs in our various products and sections. 
Possess exceptional telephone sales skills using a professional approach with the ability to direct clients appropriately while overcoming objections.
Have strong time management, organization and lead generation skills.
Ability to interact with public.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two years or more of telephone sales preferred.
 
 PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING REQUIRED
Ability to appropriately match product options to advertiser needs and justify recommendations, if challenged. 
Develop plans to grow revenue through the targeting of accounts from which to acquire that growth.
Negotiate solutions that are equally beneficial to our advertisers and our company.
