The Role
Creates application delivery environments that meet internal and external customer needs. Programs applications using object-oriented languages that meets customer needs. The position will be located at our office in downtown St. Petersburg, FL.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understands and converts requirements into stable application environments
  • Works with QA to ensure new servers and applications are reliable and effective before launch
  • Identifies and eliminates bugs that may slip past QA process
  • Delivers application hosting infrastructure that consistently works and withstands high, sustained use
  • Documents software, servers, infrastructure and deployment
  • Writes code using Object Oriented programming languages.
  • Perform basic SQL database management.
  • Actively participate in product design meetings
  • Leverages new technology advancements into existing systems
  • Works well with IT colleagues and business partners to meet agreed-upon commitments
     
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be self-starter and willing to learn on the fly.
  • Must have working knowledge of Unix/Linux in virtualized environment.
  • Must have working knowledge of SQL and database administration.
  • A working understanding of Object Oriented Programming with languages like Java or Python inside of framework like Spring or Django.
 
Education and/or Experience
  • One to three years of work or intern experience in application development or Linux server administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on programming experience greater than three years combined in Java, Python, or Node.js.
  • Experience maintaining services such as Bind, Apache, Nginx, MySQL.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design methodologies, architecture methodologies, security practices and integration techniques.
  • Knowledge of relational database technology, structured analysis concepts and software design patterns.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git or SVN)
  • Understanding of deployment technologies in virtualized environments.
  • Effective listening, writing and oral communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in integrating commercial off the shelf solutions.
  • Technical knowledge with hands-on experience in SQL database.
  • Basic understanding of front-end web tech, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
  • Basic experience creating and maintaining Amazon EC2 instances or an equivalent in another virtualized environment.
  • Basic experience maintaining security groups, subnets, and route tables.
