The Field Manager is responsible for the overall management of the contractual relationship with the independent contractors who deliver the Times’ products. Field Managers may be assigned to multiple distribution centers for gap coverage of day-to-day business as the need dictates. The management responsibility includes meeting service goals measured as complaints per thousand deliveries. Field Manager duties include the prospecting, selecting, and orientation of independent contractors. This position is also responsible for the hiring, oversight and mentoring of staffers including the training, performance management, and skill development of Product Coordinators and Delivery Center Assistants. The Field Manager will provide guidance in the development Field Assistants as well as providing input to the Zone Manager for (F.A.) performance reviews. This position assists with development, implementation, and management of the zone’s expense budget ensuring the company achieves its financial goals. Field Managers work to facilitate audience development by administering and communicating marketing and sales initiatives with independent contractors. Managers in this position exhibit solid interpersonal and problem solving skills in the professional relationships with all staff team members, independent contractors, and customers. Field Managers will conduct themselves with highest levels of integrity, respect and urgency. Field Managers will strive to meet customer expectations and special requests (i.e.: tube installation, newspaper placement, and product condition). On a daily basis, this position will be assigned tasks that will involve driving a vehicle for business purposes. Field Managers must have a valid Driver’s license, maintain an acceptable MVR, and provide their own transportation and appropriate vehicle insurance for business related driving tasks.
Must be able to safely perform all physical requirements including:
Walking and standing, sitting, reaching, twisting, stooping and kneeling.
Repeatedly lifting newspaper bundles weighing up to 40 lbs and similar physical movements.
Pushing and pulling 4-wheel newspaper carts weighing in excess of 200 lbs.
